Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian off-spinner is impressed with Rajasthan Royals strategy of using Ravichandran Ashwin’s batting skills this season. This year Indian off-spinner has amassed his highest-ever season with the bat.
Ravi Ashwin has too often shown his batting skills for Team India in international cricket. But, he is yet to establish his worth with the bat. And, this is the season where Ashwin left a big mark with his willow.
Harbhajan Singh gives credit to Rajasthan Royals
Ashwin has so far mustered 150 plus runs at a good strike rate of 147. Meanwhile, he has notched one brilliant fifty as well for the Royals. His batting played a key role and gave much-needed strength to the team’s middle order.
Talking about Ravi Ashwin’s bating, Harbhajan Singh said that the Royals think-tank should be given the credit of using Ravi Ashwin’s batting. As per him, this is the first-ever franchise to have ever used Ashwin to his fullest potential.
“Rajasthan Royals should be credited for showing faith in Ashwin’s all-round abilities and this is the best franchise to have ever made full use of R. Ashwin,” Harbhajan Singh told Star Sports on the eve of Qualifier 1.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh also mentioned that RR batters will have to adjust to the wickets of Kolkata. He feels the wickets will be really fresh and batsmen might not get the opportunity to score runs from the word go.
“Jos Buttler will have to adjust to the pitches in Kolkata. The pitches in Maharashtra have slowed down as the tournament reached its business end but the Eden Gardens track will be fresh, so not just Buttler, every batter will have to make that necessary adjustment.
“Coming to Buttler, I feel that he seems to have peaked very early and that is a reason why runs are not flowing through his bat in the latter part of the tournament. He’s a great player and he’ll have to go back to his basics to regain his form.”
