It was a goal-fest at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi as a total of 5 goals were scored by Kerala Blasters and Bengaluru FC. Sunil Chhetri scored his first goal in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season when he converted a penalty into a goal.
However, Kerala Blasters maintained their winning streak and took it to 5. They have been unbeaten in 5 continuous matches now and Bengaluru FC was their latest target. Marko Leskovic, Dimitrios Diamantakos, and Apostolos Giannou netted the goals for the Yellow Army.
On the other hand, Sunil Chhetri and Javi Hernandez scored the goals for the Blues. The homecoming of Sandesh Jhingan at Kochi was ruined as his team ended up being on the losing side at the end of the game.
Bengaluru FC suffered their 6th defeat in ISL 2022-23
This was the 6th defeat of Bengaluru FC and they are reeling at the 9th position in the ISL 2022-23 points table. Simon Grayson’s Bengaluru FC need a quick turnaround of their fortunes to get their campaign back on track.
Kerala Blasters jumped to the 4th position in the ISL 2022-23 points table with this win. They were earlier in the 6th position. Ivan Vukomanovic’s side now is just 1 point behind ATK Mohun Bagan, who are in the 3rd position in the ISL 2022-23 points table.
Kerala Blasters next travel to Chennai to play against Chennaiyin FC on 19th December 2022. They have a week’s rest before they get back into the playing arena and resume their footballing action.
Bengaluru FC next host Jamshedpur FC at home on 17th December 2022. Both the teams are struggling in ISL 2022-23 and a win would boost their confidence levels. Sunil Chhetri would be hoping to get a few more goals under his belt. It is an extremely important game for both teams.
