Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, has reached the top of the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. While wins by Australia, England, and India in recent Test matches have seen a number of their stars move up the rankings.
Babar and Steve Smith switch places as the Pakistani captain moves up to a career-high second (875 rating points) after scoring fifty in the final Test against England, closing in on Marnus Labuschagne. The 28-year-two old’s fifties against England in the third Test helped him reach his career-best position of second.
Smith’s performance with the bat in the first Test match against South Africa wasn’t fantastic; he came back with scores of 36 and 6, falling to third place and five points behind Azam.
After their 188-run victory over Bangladesh in Chattogram, India’s batsmen also experienced an improvement in their rankings. Centurions Shubman Gill and Cheteswhar Pujara both advanced 19 and 10 positions, advancing to No. 19 and No. 54, respectively.
