Rishabh Pant Likely To Miss IPL 2023 & IND vs AUS Test Series

Date:

Star Indian wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant suffered a deadly accident on National Highway (NH) 58 during the wee hours of 30th December 2022. Pant was travelling in a BMW car at reportedly a speed of 80KMPH when he collied with a divider. His car immediately burst into flames and Rishabh Pant managed to come out of the car, just at the nick of time.

Several spine-chilling pictures related to the accident surfaced on the internet and the doctors at the Max Hospital in Dehradun said that Pant was stable. However, the 25-year-old cricketer has suffered several injuries on his face, legs and arms. Pant also had to go through a plastic surgery to heal the wounds on his face.

Now as per a report in TOI, Dr Qamar Azam of AIIMS Rishikesh has said that the cricketer would be missing cricketing action for at least “3 to 6 months”.

“Pant will take at least three to six months to recover from the ligament injury. And if it’s severe, he may take more time. Further evaluation can be based on his detailed injury report,” said the doctor from AIIMS Rishikesh.

This implies that Rishabh Pant will be missing the upcoming Border Gavaskar Test series between India and Australia and also the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, Rishabh Pant is the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC) franchise. The franchise will now have to appoint someone else as the skipper in the 16th edition of the IPL.

Rishabh Pant is India’s highest ranked Test batter presently

Rishabh Pant is also India’s highest ranked batter in the ICC Test Rankings. With 797 points, the wicket-keeper batter is in the 6th position and is an important asset of the Indian Test team. His absence will be a huge void to fill up.

India lock horns with Australia for a 4-match Test series in February. The Test series commences from February 9th 2023.
