Rashid Khan Threatens To Pull Out Of BBL, Asks To Keep Politics Out Of Cricket

Date:

As Cricket Australia withdrew from the upcoming ODI series against Afghanistan, renowned spinner Rashid Khan of Afghanistan threatened to quit the Big Bash League (BBL). The all-rounder used an emotional tweet to convey his sadness, stating that the country always comes first before any T20 competition.

Before travelling to South Africa to compete in the first SA20, Rashid played for the Adelaide Strikers in the current BBL. He is participating in the competition for MI Cape Town.

Taking to Twitter, Rashid Khan wrote:

“I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March. I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage. This decision from CA sets us back in the journey.”

“If playing vs Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia then I wouldn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with my presence in the BBL. Therefore, I will be strongly considering my future in the competition,” he added.

Afghanistan seamer Naveen-ul-Haq, who plays for the Sydney Sixers in the BBL, already said that he would no longer take part in the competition as a result of CA’s decision.
