One of India’s best batters, Smriti Mandhana has been sold to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction 2023 for a whopping amount of Rs. 3.40 crores.
With a base price of Rs. 50 lakhs, there was a tense bidding war for India’s premier opener. She was finally bought by the RCB Women’s team and will be donning the red jersey in the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2023.
Notably, the apex body of Indian cricket, the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) has set a Rs. 12 crore purse for each team. The minimum amount that a player can get in the WPL 2023 auctions is Rs. 10 lakhs and the maximum base price is Rs. 50 lakhs.
There are a total of 5 teams in the WPL 2023 auction and the WPL 2023 will feature 22 matches. Brabourne Stadium and Dr D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai will play host to the entirety of WPL 2023.
