The Irani Cup match is all set to get underway. The Ranji Trophy 2021–22 season champions, Madhya Pradesh, will play the Rest of India from March 1–5, instead of the pink ball Test that was first anticipated.
Given that the Border Gavaskar Trophy third Test match would take place at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, the game’s venue has been changed to the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior.
The venue did not match the requirements for a pink-ball Test, hence it was decided to convert the pink-ball fixture to a regular Test game. In October at Rajkot, the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra took on the Rest of India in the first match of the Irani Cup.
The Rest of India team will be captained by Mayank Agarwal in the Irani Cup match against Madhya Pradesh. The team includes two players from Saurashtra, Harvik Desai and Chetan Sakariya, who won the Ranji title this year.
Himanshu Mantri will captain Madhya Pradesh since Aditya Shrivastava, who usually serves as captain, is expected to skip the game.
Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, and Rajat Patidar will all be on the MP team as they attempt to defeat the rest of the Indian team.
