Team India had a dose of its own medicine as Australia bowled them out in the first innings of the third Test in Indore, Indian players were clueless against the visitor’s spin attack.
On the first day of the third Test, Australia bowled India out for 109 in the post-lunch session. Although Shubman Gill, who took over for an out-of-sorts KL Rahul, initially appeared promising, India was unable to recover after the floodgates were unleashed.
On a track with a sharp turn, left-arm spinner Matthew Kuhnemann (5/16) and short-stop Nathan Lyon (3/35) shone for Australia.
With only 45 runs on the board, India lost half of its side as the top order collapsed like a house of cards.
Virat Kohli hit the most runs with 22, but the hosts were bowled out for 109, their fourth-lowest total at home since January 2008. This was due to Matthew Kuhnemann’s first Test 5-wicket haul. It’s interesting to note that 3 of those were against Australia.
