We have witnessed a number of young players make their tournament debuts throughout the years before going on to become cricketing legends. Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, and Sam Curran are some examples.

IPL fans and cricket experts have already seen some fantastic debuting performances that have had a significant impact on the 2023 edition of the tournament.

The performances of these players, who have demonstrated great promise and ability, have not gone unnoticed. In this article, we will take a closer look at the most impactful debuts in IPL 2023 so far and how they are shaping up to be the future stars of the game.

Abhishek Porel

Abhishek Porel showed flashes of his ability with the bat and behind the wicket on his IPL debut on Tuesday, giving Delhi Capitals hope that they have discovered a raw talent they can develop over the coming months.

After taking over as keeper in place of Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Porel made his debut at No. 6 and displayed some promise. The young left-hander smashed pacer Alzarri to six, cutting him beyond the point region, and displayed the flamboyance of a seasoned player.

Then, he struck Yash Dayal with a superbly executed pull shot to give Delhi the much-needed boost in the middle overs. While standing in front of a packed house, Abhishek did not appear intimidated by the occasion.

In Rashid Khan’s opening over as the Afghanistan spinner, he was out for 20 off 11 balls after attempting to knock Rashid Khan out of the attack.

Nehal Wadhera

Nehal Wadhera, who was born in Ludhiana, has played his first IPL  game for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the RCB in a very historic moment.

Wadhera, who is 22 years old, has a sense of occasion. At a time when Mumbai Indians were truly under pressure, the left-handed hitter contributed an important knock. Wadhera entered at 48/4 and quickly forged an important alliance with Tilak Varma.

The Punjab batter’s ability to release his shots under duress after losing early wickets belied the fact that this was his first senior-level white-ball game.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar

The right-arm fast bowler took three wickets against the defending champion Gujarat Titans on his debut for the Chennai Super Kings, making it one to remember. Although conceding 36 runs in his four overs, the 20-year-old dismissed Wriddhiman Saha, Sai Sudharshan, and Vijay Shankar.

CSK purchased Hangargekar for Rs 1.5 crore. He was a member of the India U-19 team that won the World Cup the previous year. He is one of the meat impactful debutants CSK would like to go with in future matches.

Sikandar Raza

The Zimbabwean all-rounder had a respectable performance in his IPL debut for Punjab Kings. Raza had the lowest strike rate of any PBKS batter against Kolkata Knight Riders, yet he still managed to score 16 runs off 13 deliveries.

He did, however, manage to get rid of KKR skipper Nitish Rana despite allowing 25 runs to be scored in his three overs. He is a player with a big impact which we all have seen during the inaugural match.

Kyle Mayers

On his IPL debut for the Lucknow Super Giants, the West Indian all-rounder, Kyle Mayers ruled the competition. In place of Quinton de Kock, Mayers batted first alongside skipper KL Rahul.

He became the fourth-highest-scoring debutant in IPL history thanks to his performance against the Delhi Capitals, which also enabled LSG to win by a margin of 50 runs.

After scores of 73 off of 38 and 53 off of 22 against CSK, Kyle Mayers is only one run behind Ruturaj Gaikwad in the list of leading scorers.
