Due to a lower back ailment, Shreyas Iyer has been forced to withdraw from the competition, and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced that he would not be playing this year.

During the IPL 2023 auction, Roy went unsold. Despite having a base price of Rs. 1.5 crore, no team expressed interest in purchasing this talent. Previously, this player was a member of the Gujarat Titans. The English opener did not play for GT in the IPL 2022 season after withdrawing from the league due to mental health issues. The world’s most deadly opening batsman, Roy, maybe a terrific addition for KKR.

Roy last played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2021 season. Roy has previously appeared in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. He participated in five games in 2021 and scored 150 runs, including a half-century. “Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed England’s Jason Roy for INR 2.8 crore for the TATA IPL 2023 from his base price of INR 1.5 crore. Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament owing to a lower back injury while Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has confirmed his unavailability for the season,” IPL said in a statement.

Jason Roy is in good form

Roy, the English opener, has been recently in good form. When he made his national team debut against South Africa, the batter hit a century. Then, during the Bangladesh ODI series, he hit another century.

Due to his obligations to his country, Roy, who was in and out of the Pakistan Super League, had a similar outcome in the franchise league’s second-to-last match. As Peshawar Zalmi of Babar Azam was chasing 240 runs, the opener scored 145* off just 63 balls. With approximately two overs left in the game, Quetta was able to win thanks to Roy’s outstanding innings.

KKR injury concern in IPL 2023

In the IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders appear to be having some issues. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, has already lost time this year because of a back issue. Shakib Al Hasan, the star all-rounder for KKR, has already opted not to participate this year. The KKR team management decided to add England’s explosive player Jason Roy to the lineup in this circumstance.

In addition to Shakib, Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Litton Das won’t be available in the IPL 2023 before April 10. He is a member of the national team competing in the current lone test against Ireland.

In their inaugural game of the IPL 2023 in Mohali, the KKR team was defeated by the Punjab Kings. On Thursday, Nitish Rana’s team will play Royal Challengers Bangalore at Kolkata’s renowned Eden Gardens venue.
