Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) were involved in a high-profile battle between each other in Match 49 and CSK eventually emerged out victorious in this game.
The El Clasico as they call it, the match was played in front of a jam-packed Chepauk Stadium in Chennai and we witnessed an electrifying atmosphere over there during the match. MI were comprehensively beaten by 6 wickets in this game.
It was a low-scoring game at the Chepauk Stadium and the bowlers dictated the course of the play more than the batters.
In this article, we take a look at the 3 talking points of the CSK vs MI game which take place in Chennai in Match 49:
1. Rohit Sharma registers his 16th duck in IPL
The captain of MI is enduring a torrid season in the IPL. Rohit Sharma is struggling with form and timing and is not being able to play well at all. Sharma registered another duck in this CSK vs MI game and this ended up being his 16th duck in the IPL.
He now leads this infamous list as no other batter has more ducks than he has in the IPL.
2. Matheesha Pathirana’s dream spell
The Sri Lankan young pacer Matheesha Pathirana has had a lovely time bowling in this IPL. He bagged 3 wickets in his 4 overs and he conceded just 15 runs. One of his dismissals was the set batter Nehal Wadhera and it was an inch-perfect yorker that shattered the batter’s stumps.
Pathirana is an asset for not just CSK, but also Sri Lanka and he needs to be preserved well for the future.
3. Nehal Wadhera’s match-winning knock
At a time when all the MI batters were struggling to score runs, Nehal Wadhera stood out and played a marvellous knock. In 51 balls, the young batter mustered 64 runs and was a stand-out player for MI.
His knock was packed with 8 fours and 1 six and it was a knock for the ages.
