The Indian test side for the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) final has been announced and it has been making a lot of waves on social media, recently. The selection of Ajinkya Rahane has been a major talking point and now a report has surfaced that the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) consulted MS Dhoni before choosing Rahane in the side.

Ajinkya has witnessed a rich vein of form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and seems to have re-discovered his mojo. The apex body of Indian cricket, BCCI now has decided to give weightage to his stupendous performances by selecting him for the WTC final that will be kick-start from June 7.

Now, as per a report in the Times of India, BCCI had consulted MS Dhoni before choosing Ajinkya Rahane. The inputs of Dhoni can be crucial ahead of the all-important finals as the talismanic former Indian team skipper has been following Ajinkya Rahane very closely in the CSK camp.

Ajinkya Rahane has previously been a mainstay of the Indian Test team in the last few years before he was dropped for a few Test series because of his poor form. He led India to an unbelievable come-from-behind victory in the Border Gavaskar Test series in 2020-21, despite not having the main team players at his disposal.

India dropped Surya Kumar Yadav who scored just 8 runs in one of the Test matches he played in the recently-concluded Border Gavaskar Test series in India. Rahane took his place.
