Barcelona scripted history as they won the La Liga 2022-23 title after their 4-2 win against Espanyol. It was their 27th La Liga title and the first one since 2019. The trophy brought in tears of joy for all the fans as it was a long wait for them.
The Catalan Giants’ lead striker Robert Lewandowski scored a brace and Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde were the goal-scorers as they scripted history in the ongoing La Liga 2022-23.
Barcelona were coming on the back of 2 wins and registered their 3rd win on the trot to seal a Spanish league trophy for the first time since talismanic striker and their leading goal-scorer of all-time, Lionel Messi left the club amidst a few financial problems.
The Catalan Giants logged 85 points in 34 matches and have registered 27 wins. There have been 3 losses and 4 draws for them in the tournament.
A rousing victory over Espanyol also witnessed a few Espanyol fans storm into the pitch. This resulted in the Barcelona players rushing towards the dressing room. A security breach is the last thing you would want in a tournament like the La Liga.
How did the goals pan out?
Robert Lewandowski opened the goal-scoring account for Barcelona from close-range in the 11th minute. He was assisted by Alejandro Balde. Balde then scored a tap-in goal post a cross from Pedri in the 20th minute.

Jules Kounde then scored the 4th goal for Barcelona in the 53rd minute and the writing was on the wall for Espanyol. The Parakeets are struggling in the ongoing La Liga 2022-23 and are in the 19th position in the points table.
They are in the relegation zone and have managed to win only 7 games in their 34 matches. With 31 points and 17 losses under their belt, it seems like they would have to witness the dreaded relegation in this season.
