In the online qualifier stages of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023, a number of teams encountered issues and were disqualified from the competition.
One of the reasons teams have been eliminated is due to hackers and cheats.
In Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), hackers are a common occurrence. Recent rule violations by teams resulted in Krafton disqualifying and banning them from BGIS 2023.
One of the teams that completely crushed Day 1 of BGIS 2023 Round 4 was the underdog team Night Owls. Snehil “Snehilop” Saxena, a Youtuber, posted multiple skeptical videos on his Instagram after the team’s matches.
Allegations on Night Owls in BGIS 2023
Popular YouTuber Snehil has already offered multiple pieces of evidence against those who were hacking into BGIS 2023.
He has now posted several videos of Night Owls from BGIS 2023’s Round 4. The footage posted was from a specific game on the BGMI map Sanhok.
After Cleo, a member of Night Owls, completed 12 solo kills on Sanhok, the suspicious footage was made public. He was accused of employing the wall hack Extra Sensory Perception (ESP).
NightOwl Esports has also charged the squad with identity theft. In order to play BGIS 2023, the former has accused the team of exploiting its team name and emblem.
Additionally, NightOwl Esports issued a statement claiming that the Night Owls participating in BGIS 2023 Round 4 is a hoax and that its name and logo have been stolen. The declaration read,
“This notice is regarding the BGIS, which is going on right now and there is one team in round 4 named Nightowls. They have copied our Name and Logo without asking any permission from us. We would like to tell you guys that we don’t have any official and unofficial BGMI team and don’t know that team which is playing in BGIS round 4, we don’t own that team, we haven’t signed any contract with them or their players and their is some rumor that their player noCleo is using some hacks in game.”
They added, “We don’t promote any kind of hacks and we don’t know why they are defaming our name by using our official name. We want that team to contact us or strict action will be taken by our side and I request our official NightOwl family and followers to share this post and tag Krafton and BGMI”.
Statement by Night Owls
The team competing in BGIS 2023, known as the Night Owls, posted a statement in response to NightOwl Esports’ accusations.
They claimed that the team name was chosen by themselves and the logo was downloaded from the internet.
Additionally, it said that negotiations to alter the name and logo are ongoing with Krafton. Following this problem, Night Owls have temporarily modified their logo as well.
