Sledgehammer Games, the creators of Modern Warfare 3, has revealed that the Gaia operator skin will be gone in the next update.
The skin’s alluring Mother Nature design originally drew attention when it was first unveiled in September 2023, but its unexpected pay-to-win feature swiftly caused controversy when it was released.
Player unhappiness remained despite a minor October update, since the skin’s branch-like pattern made it difficult to see in open regions, giving the user an edge and affecting gameplay.
The Gaia skin was disabled by the creators once they became aware of the detrimental consequences from player comments.
Removal of the Gaia Skin From Modern Warfare 3
The operator Nila “Nova” Brown, who appears only in the Blackcell Battle Pass for Season 6 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone, may now get the Gaia Operator Skin. Players that have this skin in MW2 and Warzone can use it in MW3 because of the carryforward feature.
The nature-inspired style of this exclusive skin, which is reminiscent of Groot from the Marvel world, fits in well with the surroundings, making players hardly notice it when they equip it amidst lush vegetation, trees, and shrubs.
This peculiar yet unintentional element significantly detracts from the dynamics of the game. Gamers that take on the Gaia skin pose a serious threat to visibility on the battlefield, especially in the latter, more hectic phases of a fight.
Therefore, despite the skin’s stunning beauty, concerns about it have been raised by the player base, resulting in several complaints.
Sledgehammer Games eventually decided to delete the Gaia skin in an upcoming update due to the mounting dissatisfaction.
According to the official statement:
“Adjustments to Gaia and Gaia Blackcell Operator Skins are in the pipeline for Modern Warfare 3. In a future game update, we’ll disable this item until said changes can be released to all players.”
Gamers can anticipate a whole overhaul, even though the skin removal is only anticipated to be a temporary solution.
It is unclear how long the necessary changes will take to implement.
