During the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, some cricketers frequently make an instant deal in crores. While newsworthy tales about rising stars landing lucrative deals are common, some seasoned performers at the IPL auction do not receive a single offer.
Sandeep Sharma, an Indian bowler, is a well-known name on this list. In the IPL 2023 auction, no franchise purchased Sandeep. Despite having a base price of just Rs 50 lakhs, no team purchased Sandeep Sharma. This Indian cricketer is really disappointed that no team selected him in the IPL 2023 auction.
Sandeep Sharma made his IPL debut in 2013 while playing for the then-Kings XI Punjab, and since then, he has been one of the tournament’s most reliable performers. One of the best powerplay bowlers in IPL history, Sharma then improved his death-bowling abilities to become an effective all-phase pacer.
He is currently doing everything he can after taking 7 wickets for Chandigarh against Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Sandeep Sharma expressed his disappointment at not being picked up by a franchise in an interview with cricket.com.
Thought some team would bid for me
“I’m shocked and disappointed,” a disheartened Sandeep Sharma told. “I don’t know why I went unsold. I’ve done well whichever team I had played for and genuinely thought some team would bid for me. To be honest, I was not expecting this. Don’t even know where it has gone wrong. In domestic cricket, I have been performing well. In the Ranji Trophy, last round, I took seven wickets. I did so well in Syed Mushtaq Ali.”
Sandeep is a regular wicket-taker
Sandeep has consistently taken wickets, particularly during the powerplay, regardless of the club he has played for. Sandeep actually holds the seventh-highest position on the all-time list for wickets per innings, with 1.09 to his credit.
“I have always strived to be consistent in my bowling. And that’s the only thing in my hands. I can’t control selection or non-selection. If a chance comes then good, or else, I have to keep doing good work,” a hurt Sandeep said.
Sharma is now ranked 13th among the top wicket-takers in the league with 114 wickets at an economy rate of 7.77 over the course of his ten seasons of league play.
