The inaugural edition of the International League T20 is finally over and we had an absolute crackerjack of a tournament. Gulf Giants won the finals against the Desert Vipers by 7 wickets after a tremendous cricketing display all throughout the tournament.
The Gulf Giants finished the tournament as the table toppers and they rightly deserve the trophy. James Vince’s side just lost 1 game in the tournament and this in itself highlights the dominance of the team.
Taking place in the UAE, the International League T20 2023 witnessed some closely-fought encounters and a lot of UAE cricketers had the opportunity of rubbing shoulders with some international stars and learning from their skill sets and expertise.
In the finals, Carlos Brathwaite was awarded the player of the match. The West Indian all-rounder bagged 3 wickets and his scalps included Alex Hales, Sam Billings and Tom Curran.
Chasing a modest total of 147, Gulf Giants achieved the total with 8 balls remaining. Chris Lynn scored a match-winning knock of 72* runs in just 50 balls. His knock was packed with 9 fours and 1 six.
Gerhard Erasmus and Shimron Hetmeyer scored 30 and 25* runs respectively to steer the Gulf Giants side to an emphatic 7-wicket victory in the final and helped them lift the first edition of the International League T20 2023.
A lot of English cricketers in the form of Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, and Tom Cohler-Cadmore impressed one and all with their fabulous performances. The first edition of the International League T20 has been a major success and this will only get bigger and bigger in the coming editions.
The Gulf Giants owned by the Adani Group have won the tournament and have been rewarded with prize money of Rs. 12 lakhs. James Vince successfully guided his team to the championship and has also impressed with his individual performances.
