IND vs AUS 1st Test: Jadeja’s ‘Ball Tampering Issue’, Team India Clears Air

Date:

After Ravindra Jadeja was questioned about ball tampering by the Australian media on Thursday, Team India has clarified the situation (February 9).

Australian media alleged that the 34-year-old all-rounder who took five wickets in the Australian innings tampered with the ball while he was having a fantastic spell.

The management of the Indian team has now brought the subject before match official Andy Pycroft, who claimed that Jadeja used painkillers.

After accusations of ball tampering against India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, the opening Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was plagued by controversy. Jadeja may be seen in a viral video on social media rubbing some cream on his spinning finger with his left arm.

The video is making the rounds in Australian media, and it appears that Jadeja was attempting to tamper with the ball.

Jadeja was just using the ointment to cure his injured fingers, it has been revealed. In the footage, Jadeja is seen receiving the ointment from Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj as he prepares to bowl his over. It is important to remember that Jadeja helped bowl the Australians out for just 177 runs in the first innings of the game with a five-wicket haul.

In Nagpur’s first Test, India are now in control because to Jadeja’s outstanding performance.

Match referee Pycroft brought the issue

Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja were alerted to the problem by match official Pycroft following the conclusion of Day 1. The match referee reportedly showed a video to the Indian captain and Jadeja after the event, who were both incensed, according to a report from Espncricinfo.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the referee has the right to request a private investigation if he thinks the situation is too serious.

In the video, Jadeja can be seen using his right hand to remove something from Mohammed Siraj’s palm. Then, just before starting to throw a delivery, Jadeja appeared to brush this substance onto the index finger of his left hand, which is his bowling arm.

Despite having the ball in his hands at the time, Jadeja was never seen rubbing anything on it in the video.

Additionally, it is found that the Australian team was unaware of the scenario that their media brought to light and did not file an official complaint.

Jadeja simply used painkillers on his finger, according to the Indian team management, who spoke fast in response to the referee’s question.

When did the incident take place?

Australia was 120/5 in the 46th over of Day 1 and Alex Carey and Peter Handscomb were at the crease to bat when Jadeja took the ball in his hand. He was observed interacting briefly with pacer Mohammed Siraj and stealing some vaseline or other type of ointment from him.

That object was spotted being rubbed on the all-around player’s finger. The Indian Cricket Team was accused of wrongdoing by Tim Paine and Michael Vaughan while the Australian media perceived Jadeja as rubbing the ball with it.
