IND vs AUS Test Series: Usman Khawaja Missed The Team’s Flight To India Due To A Visa Delay

Date:

India is to host the first of four tests during India vs Australia test series in Nagpur from February 9. Usman Khawaja, the team’s opening batsman, missed the Australia team’s flight to India on Wednesday owing to a visa holdup, according to Cricket Australia (CA).

The batsman, who was born in Pakistan, was the only member of Australia’s team who did not board because his visa did not arrive in time, according to a CA spokesman.

Waiting for my Indian Visa

Khawaja posted a popular meme on social media of a man sitting on a garden chair staring into space, with the caption: “Me waiting for my Indian Visa like… #stranded #dontleaveme #standard #anytimenow.”

Khawaja was scheduled to fly abroad on Thursday, according to CA, who expects the visa to come later on Wednesday. On Thursday, some team support personnel will also depart. After a productive year in which he amassed 1020 runs at an average of 78.46 during which he won the Shane Warne award as Australia’s men’s test player of the year on Monday, Khawaja, 36, was recognized for his achievements.
