The Delhi Capitals had a mediocre season in the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL), finishing fifth in the standings with seven victories and as many losses in 14 games. In spite of injuries and a COVID problem in their camp, they fought to the bitter end but were unable to advance to the knockout rounds of the IPL 2022 event.

A few players failed to live up to their price tag, even while some delivered spectacular performances and met expectations. Delhi Capitals, who acquired a respectable squad in the mega-auction earlier this year, would undoubtedly try to sign some key players during the IPL 2023 mini-auction.

That shouldn’t be too difficult with the 19.45 crore still available in the purse. Know the 3 players, which might be on the target of Delhi Capitals (DC) to rope in during the IPL 2023 auction.

Mayank Markande

Mayank Markande gained attention in 2018 thanks to a strong campaign with the Mumbai Indians. After two mediocre seasons with the Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai purchased the spinner at the Mega Auction.

Mayank Markande transferred from Mumbai Indians to Rajasthan Royals via Delhi Capitals during the same IPL transfer window and underwent two trades. This leg-spinner, who made his IPL debut in 2018 and was one of the biggest assets for MI, scooping up 15 wickets in his first season, had a joyful homecoming.

He has taken 17 wickets in 20 IPL games, with a strike rate of 30. If Mumbai releases him, Delhi Capitals may sign him in IPL 2023, pairing him with spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav.

Wriddhiman Saha

Two additional players who were released from the Delhi Capital camps served as Pant’s backup keepers: KS Bharat and Tim Seifert. Delhi will therefore be looking for a wicketkeeper at the auction. Saha played as the Gujarat Titans’ opener in IPL 2022 after being added late to the lineup.

He was acquired for Rs. 1.9 crore. Last season, he scored 317 runs for the Titans in 11 games, averaging 31.70 and had a strike rate of 120. Saha is still regarded as one of this nation’s top keepers despite being 37 years old.

DC might be interested in hiring Saha. He has played 29 games for Sunrisers so far, scoring 553 runs at an average of 22.12 and struck out more than 120 times. During his time with the team, he has also contributed to three stumpings and taken 17 catches.

Sam Curran

The Delhi Capitals began their season by disclosing their high bid from the previous year’s auction. Shardul Thakur was moved to KKR in order to expand their bankroll. The Capitals may now look forward to selecting an in-form overseas all-rounder to replace Shardul with more money in the bank.

With England being the world T20 champions this year and the anchor of that victory appearing in the mini-auction, who else can be a better buy than Sam Curran, who can improve their death bowling amidst the non-economical Delhi bowlers, including Nortje and their top wicket-taker, Kuldeep Yadav.
