RCB vs PBKS 3 talking points

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered their first victory in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 4 wickets. Faf Du Plessis and co. opened their winning account at home amidst a thunderous welcome from the fans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Batting first, Punjab were off to a shaky start when Jonny Bairstow departed without troubling the scoreboard too much. Prabhsimran Singh and Shikhar Dhawan steadied the ship a tad bit but eventually, RCB took the wicket off Singh.

Punjab managed to score a below-par total of 176 runs and RCB chased it down despite facing stiff resistance from the Punjab bowlers.

    1. Virat Kohli’s explosive knock up top

Virat Kohli put a lid on the mouth of all his haters as he scored a blistering knock of 77 runs off just 49 deliveries, while opening the batting for RCB. Kohli received two lifelines as the Punjab fielder’s sloppy fielding costed them the game.

Kohli took on Sam Curran early on and smashed 4 boundaries in the very first over. The former RCB captain’s knock was packed with 11 fours and 2 sixes and he batted with a strike-rate of 157.14.

We all are quite aware of Glenn Maxwell’s swashbuckling hitting abilities with the bat. In Match 6 of the ongoing IPL 2024, Glenn Maxwell contributed with the ball as well and bagged 2 wickets in the game.

Maxwell took the wicket of Shikhar Dhawan and Prabhsimran Singh and made sure that the momentum shifts towards RCB in the 1st innings.

    3. Dinesh Karthik’s golden touch

Towards the fag end of the innings, when RCB were gunning down the total, Dinesh Karthik proved to everyone that he has the Midas touch. The entire crowd went delirious as they witnessed some top-class batting from the wicket-keeper batter.

Karthik scored 28* runs in 10 balls and like the 1st game of RCB, he provided the finish with RCB needed. Except on this occasion, Dinesh Karthik ensured that RCB win the game.
