In a ceremony on Monday at the prestigious Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, the West Stand was named after the legendary Indian former cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar. As a tribute to the “Master Blaster” on his 50th birthday, the gate was renamed.

Several beautiful gestures across the world took place and this is yet another heart-warming gesture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.

The date also coincided with the havoc Sachin had created at Sharjah in 1998 at Sharjah versus Australia. It was a full house at the stadium and the crowd went berserk watching him play with some confidence and panache.

Sachin had firstly scored a knock of 143 and then he scored a 134-run knock, two days later. The second knock came in the finals of the Coca-Cola Cup and this special knock was labelled as the “Desert Storm” knock which is mentioned in several cricket history books.

“I wish I was there but unfortunately I had prior commitments. him. Playing in Sharjah has always been a magnificent experience. From the electrifying atmosphere to the love, affection, and support, Sharjah has been a special venue for Indian cricket fans and lovers of the game from around the globe,” said Sachin Tendulkar as quoted by India Today.

“A big thank you to Bukhatir and his team for this kind gesture on the 25th anniversary of the Desert Storm match and my 50th birthday. Feels like the greatest 6 of them all,” the legendary cricketer added.

Sachin Tendulkar turned 50 on 24th April 2023

The cricketer who was known for changing the landscape of Indian cricket and for capturing the hearts and minds of all cricket lovers in India, turned 50. He spent his time vacationing in Goa with his family.

Sachin Tendulkar is presently working as a mentor of the 5-time IPL winning franchise, Mumbai Indians (MI). His son Arjun Tendulkar is playing for MI and has so far bagged 3 wickets in the IPL.

Tendulkar had a stunning career of 24 years and is the leading run-getter in international cricket. He has amassed 15,921 runs in Test cricket and has mustered 18,426 runs in ODI cricket.

“This is our small way of expressing our gratitude to Sachin for doing so much for the game of cricket. Indeed, that was an incredible innings, and it was repeated in the finals. Right through the years of the now legendary CBFS initiative we have striven here at Sharjah to acknowledge the services of many great players even after their retirement.

We believe that as administrators it is our duty to pay tribute to those who have raised the bar and dedicated their lives to the cause of cricket, and we will continue to do so,” said Khalaf Bukhatir, who is the CEO of the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
