TNPL 2023: Tamil Nadu Premier League Set To Conduct Auction, To Introduce DRS, Details Here

A player auction will take the place instead of the current player draft system for the seventh season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). The TNPL 2023 auction will take place between June and July of 2023.

According to a TNCA press statement issued in Chennai, the decision to hold an auction was one of the key decisions, the TNPL Governing Council made at its most recent meeting.

The statement also stated that it was agreed to start using the decision review system (DRS) with the 2023 version of TNPL. As per the latest update, the TNPL 2023 auction purse will be Rs 70 lakh per team.

Players have to register for the TNPL auction

According to the announcement, all players who want to compete in the TNPL 2023 must register between December 28 and January 20, 2023.

The TNPL Governing Council made the decision to also recommend to the Apex Council that players who withdraw from the TNPL after registering for it for reasons other than genuine injury. Then commitments to the Indian team, and other BCCI commitments should not be taken into consideration for Tamil Nadu teams competing in the BCCI tournaments’ shorter formats.

Tamil Nadu Premier League Successful Team  

In TNPL 2022, Lyca Kovai Kings & Chepauk Super Gillies were announced as the joint winners. Three different winners have emerged from the five seasons so far. The most successful team in the TNPL is the defending champions Chepauk Super Gillies, who have won the championship three times in five seasons.

They have shown that they have a strong side throughout the TNPL by making the finals in the first edition as well. The other two teams that have previously won the TNPL are the Tuti Patriots and Siechem Madurai Panthers.
