Eden Gardens has always been a very special stadium for cricketers. The legacy and history of this stadium coupled with the immense love showcased by fans, makes it a special stadium for everyone who plays in it. In the 2nd semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 between South Africa and Australia, a heartwarming moment was captured of a kid who was celebrating a wicket from the stands.

The kid, who was visibly a fan of Sourav Ganguly, emulated the shirt take-off of the legendary cricketer, when he had done the same at the iconic Lord’s Stadium during the Natwest Trophy finals between India and England in 2002.

The young cricket lover had energetically taken off his shirt and started waving it when Gerald Coetzee had dismissed Australia’s Josh Inglis in the 2nd innings.

South Africa eventually went down to Australia in the 2nd semi-finals and have to wait for their maiden appearance in the finals of the ODI World Cup.
