With the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final just around the corner, cricket enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the clash between Australia and India, set to commence on June 7th at the prestigious Oval in London.
In preparation for WTC Final, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the complete list of match officials who will oversee the proceedings.
For the crucial encounter, a panel of five match officials has been appointed, including the on-field umpires. Chris Gaffaney from New Zealand and Richard Illingworth from England have been entrusted with the responsibility of officiating as the on-field umpires.
With their wealth of experience and expertise, they will play a crucial role in ensuring fair play and accurate decision-making throughout the game.
Assisting the on-field umpires will be Richard Kettleborough from England, who will serve as the TV umpire. His role will be to review and analyse close calls and provide valuable insights to the on-field officials using advanced technology, including the Decision Review System (DRS).
In addition to the umpires, the match will also feature Kumar Dharmasena from Sri Lanka as the fourth umpire. Dharmasena, a highly respected umpire, will be responsible for various duties, including assisting with equipment and managing the reserve players.
To maintain the integrity of the game, Richie Richardson from the West Indies has been appointed as the match referee. Richardson, a former cricketer himself, will oversee the conduct of the players and ensure that the game is played within the established rules and regulations.
