In 2012, La Pulga reached the peak of his powers. He would go on to score 91 goals in a calendar year breaking the bayern legend Gerd Müllers long standing record of 85 Goals in the process. He would go on to score 79 goals for FC Barcelona and 12 goals for Argentina in the 2012 calendar year. He would score the 91st goal against Real Valladolid creating a new Guiness World Record
