In the second leg of the semi-finals between Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, the home team in the form of Manchester United would be sheer favourites to win. They already have done 50% of their job as they registered a comprehensive 3-0 victory in their first leg at the City Ground.

Erik Ten Hag’s men would be targeting their first silverware since 2017. The last time Manchester United won a trophy was under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho in 2017 when they won the Europa League.

Ten Hag’s men have displayed shades of brilliance and they would be hoping to latch on to it as they try and win the Carabao Cup 2022-23.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Manchester United are favorites to qualify for the finals of the Carabao Cup:

1. Manchester United are in tremendous form

The Red Devils are in stupendous form and they would be hoping to translate that on to the leg 2 of the semi-finals against Nottingham Forest. Erik Ten Hag’s men are coming on the back of a 3-1 victory over Reading in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

Casemiro had netted a brace and the other goal was scored by Fred as Manchester United eased past a weaker Reading side.

2. Erik Ten Hag’s men have already done 50% of their job

50% of the job in the Carabao Cup semi-finals is already done by Manchester United. A 3-0 dominant victory away from home helped the side put one foot in the doors of the final and they would be hoping to easily wade past the Nottingham challenge at home, amidst an electrifying atmosphere.

Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes had netted the goals for Manchester United. It was incidentally Weghorst’s first goal in the Manchester United jersey.

3. Casemiro and Marcus Rashford’s incredible form

One of the main reasons why Manchester United have been displaying their incredible footballing prowess is the fact that Marcus Rashford and Casemiro have been playing an aggressive and dominant brand of football.

Casemiro’s arrival from Real Madrid has turned the tide completely for the Red Devils. They look quite settled in the midfield because of the presence of the Brazilian maverick. On the other hand, Marcus Rashford has been on a goal-scoring spree ever since the FIFA World Cup 2022 ended.

In the 20 matches he has played in the Premier League 2022-23, Rashford has 9 goals and 3 assist under his belt.
