The Indian Super League (ISL) has entered into its most exciting and enticing stage. The semi-finals are just knocking at the door and we already have our 4 semi-finalists who have played a good brand of football throughout the tournament. ISL 2022-23 is just about to get more exciting.
While Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC had reached the semi-finals already as they finished in the 1st and 2nd position in the ISL 2022-23 points table respectively, Bengaluru FC and ATK Mohun Bagan beat their respective opponents in the knockout stage to qualify for the semi-finals.
Bengaluru FC pipped past Kerala Blasters FC in a controversial way after a set-piece free-kick from Sunil Chhetri. On the other hand, ATK Mohun Bagan beat Odisha FC comprehensively 2-0 to seal a place in the semi-finals.
Mumbai City FC have already won the ISL League Shield for their consistent run in the league campaign. They just tasted 2 defeats and finished the season’s league stage as the best team. East Bengal FC and Bengaluru FC were the two teams that defeated the Islanders.
The reigning champions of ISL, Hyderabad FC would be fancying their chances to lay their hands on the ISL silverware again and successfully defend their crown. Hyderabad FC would be banking on their key player and also last season Golden Boot Winner, Bartholomew Ogbeche.
The Nigerian forward has so far netted 10 goals in the tournament and looks in fine form.
