After a string of poor performances, Leeds United sack Head Coach Jeese Marsch. He was there for less than a year before he was sacked. Marsch had joined the club in February 2022 and didn’t have the best of performances as the Gaffer.
Leeds United is presently 17th in the Premier League (PL) points table and are fighting to avoid relegation. They lost 0-1 to Nottingham Forest and this was the last assignment of Head Coach Jesse Marsch.
“Leeds United can confirm head coach Jesse Marsch has been relieved of his duties. Jesse joined the club in February 2022 and was instrumental in keeping the club in the Premier League on the final day of last season. Rene Maric, Cameron Toshack and Pierre Barrieu will also leave the club,” read a club statement from Leeds United.
“We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future. The process of appointing a new head coach is underway and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days,” it added.
Jesse Marsch had replaced Marcelo Biesla as the manager in February 2022. Leeds United under the tutelage of Marsch had avoided relegation and had also registered victories against Liverpool and Chelsea.
Leeds United shift focus to FA Cup 5th round and Manchester United game
They next lock horns with Manchester United on 9th February 2023. Leeds is also in the 5th round of the FA Cup after a 3-1 victory over Accrington Stanley in the 4th round. Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo and Luis Sinisterra had found their names on the goal-scoring sheet for the Yorkshire club.
The 49-year-old American was under a lot of pressure by the fans and after the completion of the last game, the fans kept hurling abuses at him and wanted him to leave his job. A few of his backroom staff have also left the club following their Head’s dismissal.
Leeds United would be desperate to avoid relegation and keep their forgettable season behind. They have registered 2 losses in their last 3 games and are struggling with momentum and confidence.
