Bengaluru FC had a dream comeback in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23. After languishing at the bottom end of the table because of a disastrous start, the Blues staged an epic comeback in the tournament.
They registered 11 victories at a stretch and Simon Grayson’s men were considered as unbeatable. However, they were quite unlucky in the finals as they lost in the penalty round to ATK Mohun Bagan.
After the score-line at the end of extra time, it read 2-2. Sunil Chhetri and Roy Krishna had netted the goals for Bengaluru FC. In the penalty round, Simon Grayson’s men fell short. The final penalty score read 4-3 in favour of the Mariners.
A few players of Karnataka’s squad which won the Santosh Trophy, has also been named in the Bengaluru FC side. Midfielders Shreyas Ketkar and Lalremtluanga Fanai along with defender Robin Yadav have been named in the squad for the Durand Cup 2022 winners for this year’s Super Cup 2023.
They had also won the Durand Cup 2022 after beating Mumbai City FC in the finals. They would be hoping to continue their excellent run in the Super Cup 2023 as well. In their season opener, Bengaluru FC had a 1-1 stalemate with Sreenidi Deccan. Javier Hernandez had scored the goal for Bengaluru FC.
