Road to Valor: Empires has more than 100,000 downloads and a 4.2 rating on the Google Play Store.

The inaugural Road To Valour: Empires Open Championship has been announced by South Korean video game creator KRAFTON, with a total prize fund of INR 10 Lakh.

In March 2023, the strategy game was made available in India in collaboration with S8UL. S8Ul is one of the largest gaming companies in the country. They are also the recipients of the “Content Group of the Year” prize at the Esports Awards 2022.

Within only two months of its debut, the game has already launched its first official tournament. This is in an effort to strengthen its position in India’s competitive gaming market.

The publishers said in a statement that “Strategy gaming in India has witnessed a surge in emerging talent. This tournament aims to provide a platform for players to refine their skills and make a mark in the world of Esports.”

Indian-centric gaming has always been a priority for Krafton. The corporation has shown a desire to improve the startup environment in India.

So far it has invested close to $100 million in a number of companies in India. These are companies that are involved in interactive entertainment, gaming, esports, and technology.

Sean Hyunil Sohn, the CEO of KRAFTON, Inc. India, expressed delight for this tournament and emphasised its importance for the Indian gaming industry.

”We believe India has a strong talent pool in strategy gaming, and we hope this tournament provides a platform for all aspiring players in this segment. India has always been an important market for us, and we are committed to nurturing the Esports ecosystem in the country,” he stated.

Another unexpected decision was the rebranding of the BGMI Esports Channel to Krafton India Esports by the video game developer.

According to the official press release, “The KRAFTON INDIA ESPORTS YouTube Channel will serve as a hub for all Esports enthusiasts, offering engaging content, thrilling competitions, and updates on KRAFTON’s Esports events.”

The Road to Valor: Empires tournament is to be an open-to-all amateur league. Here, talents from the grassroots level will be exposed to wider chances as the game doesn’t yet have an esports foundation.

In the press statement, Krafton also confirmed that the tournament would start in June 2023. They said that the tournament’s dates and other information will be made public shortly.
