Recently, the seventh pre-release of Minecraft 1.20 was made available. Pre-releases are one of the last steps in Mojang’s meticulous effort to complete the Trails & Tales update for the Minecraft community.

The update may be made public after they are finished. As a result, the majority of them concentrate mostly on bug repairs and other minor adjustments.

Snapshots, betas, and previews were used to test the significant enhancements for the Minecraft 1.20 update.

Mojang developed Minecraft to recognise symbolic links used in the world directory in order to increase security. Other alterations consist of:

  • The game won’t download the whole world if the target of a symbolic link is not in the user-configured approved list.
  • It should be emphasised that in this case, links might still go to the world directory itself.
  • The file ‘allowed_symlinks.txt’, which may be found in either the client or server top directory, contains a list of the symbolic links that are permitted as targets.
  • The entries in the file are those that are permitted. One is on each line:
  • Lines that begin with a # are disregarded since they are regarded as comments.
  • [type]pattern is a tag whose type can be prefix, regex, or glob.
  • prefix matches a pattern to the beginning of the path up.
  • regex matches the regular expression against the entire path.
  • glob uses OS-specific mechanisms, so it will be different for the platform. Paths will, where necessary, employ OS-specific separators.
  • The pattern also uses the default prefix type.

In addition, a problematic bug has been fixed. Bamboo Mosaic Slabs and Stairs were not included in the block and item tags for slabs and stairs prior to the update.

They are now at the correct position as a result of that being fixed in the past.

These are unofficial versions of the game and may include bugs. Mojang makes an effort to get rid of all of them, however they are not perfect.

Before turning on the pre-release, be sure to backup any worlds you don’t want to lose.
