BGMI

BGMI is making its much-awaited comeback to India after a long hiatus. The reaction of the entire Indian gaming community is proof that although the game was banned, it remained in the minds of gamers.

Despite no official announcement, fans of the game kept waiting, often getting their hopes dwindled by rumours that turned out to be false.

The BGMI ban affected both casual gamers and professional gamers alike. This is unusual for most games.

However, the gargantuan popularity of Battlegrounds Mobile India, or BGMI is majorly due to the fact that the game is easy to play, but difficult to master.

This makes it the perfect choice for anyone who is merely beginning out, but also for professional gamers to compete.

BGMI eSports

Prior to the BGMI ban, the game had a massive eSports culture in the country. This is so much so that many professional gamers and content creators began their journey with BGMI.

The number of streamers in the country began to steadily rise with the popularity of BGMI as the game had an active audience as well.

This was a much-needed stepping stone for Indian eSports professionals and organizations to propel them to the international arena.

Added to this, considering the Battlegrounds Mobile India is the Indian version of erstwhile PUBG Mobile, it enabled BGMI players in India to compete in PUBG Mobile tournaments internationally as well.

The ban undoubtedly had an adverse effect on the Indian eSports scene. However, now that the game is making a comeback, there will be a revival of the eSports scene as well.

Krafton has already made its intentions clear that they wish to grow eSports in India and will contribute to it.

They have also started a dedicated channel for ‘Krafton India Esports’. Once BGMI is back to the Indian market, Krafton will definitely begin to organize tournaments.
