Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) kick-start their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad. The match is slated to begin from 7:30 PM (IST).
While Rajasthan finished as the runners-up in IPL 2022, Sunrisers Hyderabad had an underwhelming IPL 2022 season and they finished in the 8th position.
Hyderabad have a new captain in the form of Aiden Markram and the South African solid batter will have a point to prove in the IPL.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be without the services of their skipper Aiden Markram in the 1st game as he is away on national duty. Bhuvneshwar Kumar is likely to skipper the side in his absence.
After letting go of their long-time player and former skipper Kane Williamson, Sunrisers Hyderabad bought the services off Indian swashbuckling player Mayank Agarwal in the IPL 2023 mini auction.
The bowling department of Hyderabad looks extremely menacing as the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan and Umran Malik can trouble the opposition batters with their bowling prowess.
Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson would be hoping to exorcise the ghosts of IPL 2022’s finals and cross the finishing line in this season.
Without an iota of doubt, it can be said that Rajasthan Royals have one of the best teams on paper. Their players are available for the entire season and this places them at a notch higher than the other teams.
However, the franchise was dealt with a big blow as their pacer Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of IPL 2022 because of a stress fracture injury. The franchise named Sandeep Sharma as his replacement, recently.
The right arm pacer has played 104 games in IPL and is one of the most experienced bowlers in the league. He would be hoping to fill in the void created by the absence of Prasidh Krishna.
Head-to-Head IPL 2023 Record of SRH vs RR
It is so far an even contest between the two sides, whenever they cross swords with each other in the IPL. In IPL 2023, both the teams would be looking to extend their lead.
