GT vs RCB 3 talking points

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) inflicted a crushing 9-wicket defeat to Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 28th April 2024. It was RCB’s second win on the trot and their 3rd in this season.

Batting first, Gujarat managed to score 200 runs, thanks to a partnership that brewed between Shah Rukh Khan and Sai Sudarshan for the 4th wicket. On a hut and sultry day, the RCB bowlers had to do the hard yard and restrict Gujarat to an achievable total.

In response, King Kohli played a fantastic knock and he was ably supported by Will Jacks, who smashed a century in just 41 deliveries, whilst being not-out. Jacks had smashed 29 runs off Rashid Khan in the final over, when the match ended.

In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of GT vs RCB in Match 45 of the ongoing IPL 2024:

1. Will Jacks’s power-packed 100

The 25-year-old English all-rounder scored a 41-ball 100 as RCB gunned down the 201-run total, set by GT, in just 16 overs. It was not just 2 points for RCB, but also a massive boost to their Net Run-Rate (NRR).

Jacks came in after Faf Du Plessis was dismissed by Sai Kishore and smeared the Gujarat bowlers, all across the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. His strike-rate was 243.90 and he was the cynosure of all eyes.

2. Virat Kohli crossed 500 runs in IPL 2024

All Hail, King Kohli! Virat Kohli once again was at his exemplary best as he scored 70* runs in just 44 balls, with a fabulous strike-rate of 159.09 as RCB gunned down the total with 24 balls remaining.

Kohli has crossed 500 runs in this IPL 2024 season and has the Orange Cap, which is an award given to the batter with the maximum runs in an IPL season.

3. Sai Sudarshan’s special knock goes in vain

Sai Sudarshan proved his mettle under pressure as he scored an unbeaten knock of 84* runs in just 49 balls, at a time when the two openers of Gujarat, were back in the hut after amassing paltry scores.

Sudarshan partnered with Shah Rukh Khan and the southpaw’s knock was laced with 8 fours and 4 sixes and he steadied the ship of Gujarat, taking them to a competitive total.

Khan scored 58 runs in just 30 balls before being knocked over by Mohammad Siraj.
