IPL 2021 has been suspended for time being after several cricketers tested positive for Covid-19. BCCI took such a step after SRH player Wriddhiman Saha and Amit Mishra were tested positive for the same. IPL has not defined the next date for the tournament. But, it is said that the 14th edition will kick start once things get normal in the nation.

IPL 2021 was hit with the second wave of Covid-19 as Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier became the first two players to be tested positive for coronavirus. Later on, groundsmen of DDCA were tested positive followed by CSK’s bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji, and a bus cleaner.

Many former players and cricket pundits were against the idea of tournaments getting organized in the country where people are dying of Covid. Adding to that many Aussie cricketers including Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa, Liam Livingstone, and Andrew Tye left IPL 2021 due to the Covid-19 scare. But, till then no positive case was found in the league.

However, every scenario of the league changed after a sudden increase in the number of positive cases. This was seen as the biggest failure of BCCI to create a secure Bio-Bubble for the players. Now, it will be interesting to watch when and where the 14th edition of the tournament will begin going ahead.

Earlier, CSK had also asked BCCI in their official request that they will not take the field against Rajasthan Royals. Also, they assured that the whole squad will support staff will undergo hard quarantine. Now, when the tournament has been suspended and cricket fans are waiting for a quick update when IPL 2021 will restart going ahead.
