Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a force to reckon with in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The southpaw has been opening the batting for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and along side Jos Buttler, Jaiswal has stitched some exceptional alliances.

Jaiswal has been batting like he has extra time and is timing and middling everything. He is surely a blue-eyed batter in the middle of all young batters and is definitely the backbone of RR in the ongoing IPL.

If he shows the same dedication and spunk, he could soon be seen in the national team colours.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Yashasvi Jaiswal can soon make his India team debut:

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s stupendous form in IPL 2023

Yashashvi Jaiswal is presently holding the Orange Cap in IPL 2023, which is award given to the cricketer who scores the most runs in an IPL season. In 9 games so far, Jaiswal has mustered 428 runs and has a good average of 47.56.

We have previously seen the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Surya Kumar Yadav and Rahul Tripathi getting a chance in the Indian cricket team after a few good IPL seasons. Jaiswal could soon tread on the same path if he continues his shades of consistency.

2. Ishan Kishan’s poor form

Since southpaw opener Ishan Kishan hasn’t been in good touch and has been struggling recently, Yashasvi Jaiswal could well replace him in the playing XI. Ishan Kishan hasn’t scored a single 50 in his last 10 T20I innings and his highest score in the last 10 innings is 37.

These are worrying signs for India and they might give Jaiswal a chance to prove his mettle at the highest stage. After Ishan Kishan scored a double century against Bangladesh in the 3rd ODI in 2022, he hasn’t got his bearings right in the ODI format.

Kishan has scores of 5, 8, 17 and 3 post that scintillating double century.

3. Good domestic form

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a force to reckon with in the Indian domestic circuit. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022, which is India’s premier One-Day domestic tournament, Jaiswal scored 396 runs in 6 games and had a stupendous average of 79.20.

He also played well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 which is the premier T20 domestic tournament of India. The Mumbai batter mustered 266 runs in 10 games and was a solid batter for Mumbai.
