IPL 2023: 3 Talking Points Of DC vs SRH Game

Date:

Delhi Capitals (DC) slumped to their 6th defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as they were handed a 9-run defeat by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match had taken place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

With this loss, Delhi remains rooted to the bottom of the table and will have to now win all their remaining games in order to qualify for the playoffs.

During the majority of the 1st half of the 2nd innings, it seemed like Delhi would cruise to a comfortable victory. But the dismissal of Phil Salt in the 11th over triggered a massive landslide in terms of wickets.

In this article, we take a look at the 3 talking points of the DC vs SRH game in IPL 2023, which took place in Delhi:

1. Mitchell Marsh’s all-round excellence goes in vain

Those who made Mitchell Marsh their fantasy captain are now the happiest people on earth. Marsh firstly bagged 4 wickets and then scored a knock of 63 runs in just 39 deliveries. Till the time he was there in the crease, Delhi were firm favourites in this game.

His partnership with Phil Salt yielded 112 runs and SRH jumped right back into the game when they broke off this partnership.

2. Mayank Markande continues to bowl well

SRH’s leading wicket-taker in IPL 2023, Mayank Markande has once again bowled with a lot of gusto and aplomb. He took 2 wickets in this DC vs SRH game and conceded only 20 runs in 4 overs.

Markande had an excellent economy of only 5.00. He is going to be key for SRH going forward. His economy in IPL 2023 so far is a staggering 15.40 and he also has a 4-fer, which he took against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

3. Heinrich Klaasen’s fireworks in the back-end

SRH were staring at a below-par total once their middle-order crumbled like a pack of cards. But the South African hard-hitting batter decided to turn things around and produce a masterclass of an innings.

Klaasen blasted his way to a 53* run knock and it came in just 27 balls. His knock was packed with 2 sixes and 4 fours. Abdul Samad on the other hand, played a mature and composed innings of 28 runs alongside Klaasen.

This essentially enabled the visitors to post a formidable total of 197 runs on the board. It eventually proved to be more than enough as DC faltered during their run chase.
