Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Nitish Rana was slapped with a fine of Rs. 12 lakhs as his team maintained a slow over-rate during the KKR vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) game at Eden Gardens of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

As this was KKR’s first offence of this season, Rana was let go with a fine of only Rs. 12 lakhs. If the team is found maintaining a slow over-rate for the 2nd time in a single season, then the skipper is reprimanded and is charged Rs. 24 lakhs.

For the third offence in a single season, the captain is charged Rs. 30 lakhs and is given a 1 match ban. The rest of the team members are fined either 50% of their match fee or Rs. 12 lakhs.

KKR snatched a last-ball thriller versus PBKS

Kolkata Knight Riders kept their nerves and calm during this KKR vs PBKS game and guided themselves to a victory. The 2-time IPL champions stay afloat in the competition and also took revenge for their 7-run defeat, earlier this season.

Andre Russell and Rinku Singh starred with the bat as we witnessed fireworks from their blazing blade. Russell also bagged the player of the match award for scoring 42 runs in 23 balls and for also taking a wicket.

It was Russell’s power-packed innings that changed the complexion of the game and won the game for the Knights. Things were looking pretty tight at one moment but the duo kept their nerves and made sure, KKR had the last laugh.

With this win, KKR now have risen from the 8th position to the 5th position. Although this is a temporary position for Nitish Rana’s side, they would be hoping to win all their remaining 3 games and stand a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

3 wins in 3 games would take the Kolkata-based side to 16 points.
