IPL 2023: Predicting Lucknow Super Giants’ Strongest Playing XI

Lucknow Super Giants

One of the 2 new franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are a star-studded team in the cash-rich IPL. Owned by the RPSG Group, Lucknow finished in the 4th position in IPL 2023 after crashing out in the Eliminator against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

With 2-time IPL winning captain Gautam Gambhir as their mentor, LSG have made some sharp changes in their side and look like a potent side in IPL 2023.

They would be looking to cross the finishing line this time and get a maiden IPL title, just like Gujarat Titans (GT) did in IPL 2022.

In this article, we take a look at Lucknow Super Giants strongest playing XI in IPL 2023:

IPL 2023: LSG Best Predicted Playing XI

Openers: KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock

KL Rahul and Quinton De Kock will be opening the proceedings for the Lucknow Super Gaints franchise. The duo opened in IPL 2022 as well and frequently gave solid starts to the side.

The Indian opener is one of the most explosive and visually-appealing batters in modern day cricket and he would be looking to guide his team to a victory in IPL 2023. Quinton De Kock has been in exceptional form in international cricket and would be looking to continue that stellar form.

Middle-order: Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis

One of the biggest positives of Lucknow has been their strong middle-order. However, in IPL 2022 the entire team hinged around the top-order and upper middle-order.

Nicholas Pooran has been a notable addition to the side and Lucknow tried addressing this issue of lower middle-order batting by incorporating him in the side. The West Indian former skipper was bought for a whopping amount of Rs. 16 crores.

Lower-order: Krunal Pandya, Ayush Badoni

Krunal Pandya’s inclusion is a no-brainer as he is not only the vice-captain of the side but also one of the best left-arm all-rounders in India.

Ayush Badoni had a good season in IPL 2022 and grabbed the limelight. He played in 13 games last season and is expected to be in the playing XI of LSG.

Bowlers: Avesh Khan, Mark Wood, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan

The availability of Mark Wood will do wonders for Lucknow Super Giants.Plus, the Indian core of Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi and Mohsin Khan are expected to fire on all cylinders in IPL 2023.

Bishnoi played 14 matches in IPL 2022 for Lucknow Super Giants and bagged 13 wickets.
