After a string of failures, the number 1 T20I batter in the world has come back with a bang. Leading the side against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Surya Kumar Yadav has made a statement innings for Mumbai Indians (MI).
Post a forgettable ODI series versus Australia where he had 3 ducks in 3 games, Surya Kumar Yadav scored a match-winning knock of 43 runs in just 25 balls. Mumbai Indians rode on their stand-in-skipper’s knock to go through the line against the 2-time IPL champions in the previous IPL game.
Post the game, Surya Kumar Yadav revealed that a relaxed state of mind helped him get out of that tumultuous time.
“I relaxed and had an easy walk to the wicket, took my time for the first 6-7 balls. And then I thought if I get my eye in, I can take it forward,” said Surya Kumar Yadav in the post-match presentation to the broadcaster.
“We just need to bat smart in the first 7-10 overs and later on we know what kind of firepower we have. We just did the same thing today and hopefully we carry it forward into the next few games,” he added.
Mumbai Indians registered their 2nd successive win on the trot in IPL 2023
After two dismal seasons in IPL, Mumbai Indians have a task in their hand. They need to show everyone that why they are the powerhouses in the IPL. With two wins in two games and with most of their players in form, the MI Paltans would be backing themselves to go all the way.
When Jofra Archer stages a comeback into the team after the injury layoff, MI would be hugely bolstered. With Surya Kumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Verma and Piyush Chawal in form, Mumbai Indians’ management would be a happy unit.
