IPL 2023: Tom Moody Picks His Favourite T20 Captain Of All Time

Date:

One of the longest serving coaches in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Tom Moody is synonymous with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team. The former Australian cricketer was the Coach of Hyderabad from 2012-2019 and then again returned to Hyderabad as their Head Coach in IPL 2021.

He stayed there for two seasons and was replaced by former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara as the Head Coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the ongoing IPL 2023, Moody is a cricket pundit and is known for his good viewpoints.

Ahead of the all-important and high-octane IPL final clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Moody picked his favourite T20 captain of all time.

“MS Dhoni hands down in my view is the best T20 captain we have ever seen. And he has shown examples of that this year. And if you are talking about Test cricket, I would not put MS Dhoni in that category,” said Tom Moody while speaking to ESPNCricInfo.

MS Dhoni will be playing his 11th IPL final

Rain played spoilsport on 28th May 2023 as the final game couldn’t take place. There is a reserve day and the game will be played on 29th May 2023. All eyes will be on the legendary captain MS Dhoni as he plays his 11th IPL final.

The 41-year-old cricketer has led CSK to 9 IPL finals and has played 1 IPL final for the now-defunct Rising Pune Super Giants (RPS) in IPL 2017. Out of the 9 finals while plying his trade for Chennai, MS Dhoni has won 4 IPL titles.

He will be hoping that his side wins the 5th title and get on par with Mumbai Indians (MI) in terms of most IPL titles. Notably, Mumbai have won 5 IPL titles. All these IPL titles have been won under the leadership of Rohit Sharma.

CSK defeated Gujarat in Qualifier 1 by 15 runs. They will be hoping to emulate the same result against Gujarat on 29th May 2023.
