There isn’t a “bigger cricketer” in the nation than the legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni, according to former Indian player Harbhajan Singh.

India won the 50-over World Cup in 2011 under Dhoni’s leadership. Additionally, Dhoni has led the Chennai Super Kings to five runner-up finishes and four IPL championships.

In the most recent IPL season, Dhoni made history by becoming the first player to skipper an IPL side in 200 games. Dhoni has played for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which is also his current team, in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In addition to guiding CSK to two Champions League (CLT20) championships, Dhoni has led them to the IPL title four times. In addition, throughout MSD’s tenure, Chennai finished second five times and made the playoffs in 11 of their 13 outings.

In the IPL, Dhoni has amassed over 5,000 runs, and he recently became the first player to skipper an IPL side (CSK) in 200 games. He, therefore, has a huge fan base around the world, especially in India. Many of his supporters have shown up in big numbers in CSK’s games so far, as IPL 2023 may be his final season.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is only one

No one has a bigger fanbase than Dhoni, according to Harbhajan, ahead of CSK’s home game against SRH on April 21.

“Mahendra Singh Dhoni is only one. There cannot be a bigger cricketer than him in India. Someone could have scored more runs than him and someone could have taken more wickets than him, but no one has a bigger fanbase than him,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

“Dhoni has accepted this fandom to heart and he respects his teammates as well. He walks with so much love and emotion that anyone else would go mad, but Dhoni has carried this love and emotion in his heart for 15 years and he still hasn’t changed at all.”

CSK banks a lot on players with Shivam Dube’s qualities

Shivam Dube, a batting all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings, received high appreciation from Harbhajan for his hitting prowess, noting that players with these traits are heavily relied upon by the team. The former off-spinner stated that Dube should be given more chances to bat first in the lineup.

“Shivam Dube’s hitting range is tremendous. Whenever the ball comes into his hitting arc, he dispatches it for a biggie. CSK banks a lot on players with such qualities. Shivam should continue to get opportunities to bat at the top,” Harbhajan said.

After their first five games, Dhoni’s CSK are third in the standings. At the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, they will play host to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in game 29 of this season on Friday night, April 21. At the Chepauk, CSK enjoys a 3-0 lead over SRH.
