Rahul Tewatia steered Gujarat Titans to an impressive win in their season opener against Lucknow Super Giants by 5 wickets. The southpaw smashed 40 runs off 24 balls with the help of five boundaries and two sixes. And, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag shared an inspirational post for the cricketer over the micro-blogging site.

At one point Titans were on the backfoot on a score of 78 runs for a loss of 4 wickets. Rahul Tewatia came to bat in that position with Lucknow Super Giants bowlers bowling at their best. It looked as if Super Giants will easily win the game. But, Tewatia had some other plans as he ruined the party of KL Rahul & Co.

Rahul Tewatia Ek Kranti Hain, says Virender Sehwag in his social media post

Tewatia got off to a slow start in order to get settled on the track. After the strategic time-out, the batsman accelerated his game and started hammering bowlers for boundaries and sixes. He managed to shift the momentum in his team’s favor by smashing 22 runs in an over bowled by Deepak Hooda. Meanwhile, he was well supported by David Miller and Abinav Manohar from the other batting end.

It was Rahul Tewatia’s exceptional effort that guided Gujarat Titans to win in their very first IPL game. The all-rounder was also awarded Man of the Match for his glittery knock with the bat.

The former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was impressed with the batting display of Rahul Tewatia and shared a post through his official Twitter handle. He shared a snap along with a long caption that read, “Tewatia Ek kranti hai, saamne waali team mein ashaanti hai. All hail Lord Tewatia. Fantastic win for Gujarat. Great to see the debutant Indians from both teams Ayush Badoni and Abhinav Manohar showing their skills,”

Sehwag also praised youngster Abhinav Manohar and Ayush Badoni for their brilliant batting display.
