Sourav Ganguly has staged a comeback into competitive cricket after his tenure as the President of the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) ended last year. He is now the Director of Cricket of Delhi Capitals’ franchises.

Delhi have lost their first game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They would be hoping to stage a comeback against Gujarat Titans (GT).

In the 1st game of Delhi, Mark Wood absolutely went on fire and bagged 5 wickets. He crushed through the defensive structures of a few DC batters and the bowlers were completely flummoxed by his raw pace and tight line and lengths.

The Indian duo of Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw too were bowled out and couldn’t match up to the prowess of Wood. Speaking about them, Sourav Ganguly has backed them to the hilt.

“Everyone has to learn to play against fast bowling. These batters are good. Shaw has scored runs against genuine pace in the past. It was just one ball that went through him. you have got to give credit to Wood for the way he bowled. It was one of those days where they got out,” said the former legendary skipper of India.

A lot of cricket pundits and experts have been pointing out Prithvi Shaw’s poor technique against pacers and his ability to not play well against pace bowling. He has regularly been dismissed by pacers and that’s an area he should consider focussing on.

Sourav Ganguly has also said that giving a verdict on Sarfaraz at the present moment is not right as it is too early.

“The game has changed. You look at keepers who can bat. It’s an all-round position. Sarfaraz has kept wicket for Mumbai this season. At this level, obviously the pressure is different. but he has kept in just one match. You can’t pass judgment on him so quickly,” said Sourav Ganguly.

Notably, Sarfaraz Khan has been an irreplaceable gem in the Mumbai squad in domestic cricket. He has been breathing fire with the willow and has been performing exceedingly well in the domestic circuit.
