“Virat Kohli Deserves A Lot Of Credit For Giving RCB Flying Starts”: Sunil Gavaskar Ahead Of CSK Clash

Date:

In a highly anticipated Southern Derby, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings will square off at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Blockbuster Monday of IPL 2023.

One of the most anticipated matches of the competition each season pits two of the IPL’s best stars, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, against one another. The batting mainstays of Kohli and Dhoni at this stadium give another layer to this IPL competition in addition to the struggle for domination between the two franchises.

In RCB’s most recent IPL match against Delhi Capitals, Kohli was named player of the match. The talismanic batter will be eager to deliver against CSK. Sunil Gavaskar, a former Indian cricketer, praised Kohli for his electric beginnings in the IPL 2023 and said it was a positive sign for RCB.

Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts

Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, praised Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Virat Kohli for his strong starts in the Indian Premier League. Gavaskar claims that Kohli’s aggressive style at the top has been the primary factor in RCB’s high scores in the current iteration of the competition. After several seasons in the Indian Premier League, Kohli is in ideal form for a solid campaign as he has already struck three half-centuries in the competition.

“Virat Kohli is giving RCB flying starts at the start of the innings. He deserves a lot of credit for the starts RCB is getting and the runs the team is managing to post on the board because of his starts. These are good signs for RCB,” Gavaskar told Star Sports while previewing RCB vs CSK.

CSK know how to get out of tough situations

Gavaskar also mentioned the former Indian captain, saying that Dhoni taught Chennai how to overcome obstacles.

“Chennai Super Kings know how to get out of tough situations. This has been possible only under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Captaining 200 matches is very difficult. Captaining so many matches is a burden and it could have affected his performance as well. But Mahi is different. He is a different captain. There hasn’t been a captain like him and there will never be one like him in the future,” Gavaskar gave his view on CSK.

Another captain’s knock from Sanju

The reigning champion Gujarat Titans suffered their second consecutive home setback at hands of Rajasthan Royals after a spectacular run chase. After Rajasthan’s team was early on put up against the wall, it was their captain Sanju Samson who led the attack.

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh praised Sanju Samson, noting how the wicketkeeper-batter exhibits a lot of maturity in his approach to the game. Samson is deserving of being a permanent member of the Indian team in the white-ball format because he continues to impress with each passing day.

“We’ve seen another captain’s knock from Sanju. I have said in the past and still believe that he should be a regular feature in the Indian national side (in white ball format). He plays spinners and fast bowlers with equal ease. He knows how to absorb pressure and is a strong-willed player. He has faith in his abilities, just like MS Dhoni,” concluded Harbhajan Singh.
