Mumbai Indians’ new recruit Tilak Varma says that he has always admired MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. The U19 World Cup star wants to play against Chennai Super Kings. which will boost his confidence.

The youngster hogged the spotlight for scoring a remarkable knock of 110 runs vs arch-rivals Pakistan during the U19 World Cup. He was awarded Man of the Match for his match-winning knock in a crucial encounter. Very soon he was rewarded with an Indian Premier League contract with Mumbai Indians. The base price of Tilak Varma was INR 20 Lakhs and he was bought at a price of INR 1.7 Cr.

In an interview, Tilak Varma said that he has grown up watching Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma playing. He added that it is going to be a great experience as a player for him to play for Mumbai Indians.

“I have watched Sachin [Tendulkar] sir and Rohit [Sharma] bhai a lot while I was growing up and it has been a dream of mine since childhood to play for MI one day. I feel like it is going to be a great experience. I’m eager to get started as soon as possible. MI also has this unique spirit of bouncing back from tough situations,” Varma was quoted by Mumbai Indians’ official website.

“Whenever it felt like they would lose a game, the team always found a way to win. I then felt that there was something different about this team and it always motivated me. It always felt like a family and the fans just make it all the better.

Tilak Varma revealed that he is eagerly waiting to play for Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of IPL 2022.

“I think that would be CSK. I have admired MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja for a long time. So doing well and winning a match for MI against them will give me great confidence,” he added.
