Stephen Fleming IPL auction

On December 23, Kochi will host the IPL 2023 Auction. Franchises have asked for the BCCI to change the date because of the Christmas celebrations, but they have received no response. In exchange, the BCCI permitted video conferencing, allowing international personnel to participate from their homes.

The IPL has always permitted phone calls during the bidding process, but video conferencing will be permitted for the first time during the Kochi auction. As a result, several of the foreign employees—including Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming—are probably going to skip the event.

For the IPL Auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be without their head coach Stephen Fleming and the majority of their coaching staff. The CSK CEO has confirmed to InsideSport that the absence of the international staff is due to Christmas celebrations at home. However, BCCI would permit them to join through video conference.

No foreign staff will be present

The CEO of Chennai Super Kings has indicated that all of their support personnel will attend through video conference.

“No, Stephen Fleming won’t be joining us for the auction. None of our foreign staff will be present in Kochi due to Christmas Celebrations. They will join by video conference,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan.

The majority of the support staff in Chennai is foreign, therefore celebrities like Michael Hussey, Eric Simmons, and Dwayne Bravo won’t be there either. Nevertheless, Fleming will essentially support CEO Viswanathan throughout the auction process. Lakshmipathy Balaji used to be a regular at the table. However, Bravo took over as bowling coach from the former Indian pacer.
