PV Sindhu's New Coaches

Indian badminton star PV Sindhu has strengthened her coaching team by appointing South Korean badminton legend Lee Hyun Il as her consulting coach.

This strategic move comes as Sindhu prepares for her upcoming tournaments, including the Finland Open and Denmark Open, scheduled for October 2024.

PV Sindhu’s Coaching Team

Lee Hyun Il, a former world No. 1 and a bronze medalist at the 2006 World Championships, joins PV Sindhu alongside Anup Sridhar, who was recently appointed as her interim coach.

The duo will work with Sindhu until December 2024, after which a decision regarding a permanent coaching structure will be made.

This collaboration aims to blend experience and tactical precision, crucial for Sindhu’s preparation as she embarks on her post-Olympic campaign.

Sindhu expressed her excitement about the new additions to her team, stating, “I’m thrilled to have Anup and Lee Hyun Il joining my team in this crucial period. Anup’s understanding of Indian badminton and his strategic approach have always impressed me.”

Lee Hyun Il’s Experience

Lee Hyun Il brings a wealth of experience to Sindhu’s coaching setup. Apart from his accolades as a player, he has been involved in coaching roles that highlight his deep understanding of the game.

His previous partnership with Sindhu during the Premier Badminton League (PBL) showcased their compatibility and shared vision for success. Lee stated, “Working with PV Sindhu was an easy decision. Our previous partnership in the PBL highlighted her fierce determination and exceptional talent.”

Acknowledging Past Contributions

Sindhu’s decision to revamp her coaching team follows the conclusion of coach Agus Dwi Santoso’s contract with the Sports Authority of India.

She took a moment to acknowledge Santoso’s contributions to her career, particularly in helping her recover from injuries and preparing for competitions.

“I truly appreciate coach Agus for all the effort he invested in preparing me for the Olympics,” she remarked.

As Sindhu gears up for her return to competitive badminton, the inclusion of Lee Hyun Il and Anup Sridhar is seen as a significant step towards achieving her goals in upcoming tournaments.

With their combined expertise, Sindhu aims to sharpen her skills and enhance her performance on the international stage.

This new chapter in Sindhu’s career is not just about adding coaches; it represents a strategic move towards regaining her top form and continuing to inspire future generations in Indian badminton.
