Sanju Samson, the right-handed Indian batsman is one of the most prolific talents across the country. He is also one of the youngest skippers in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. However, there were rumors after the end of IPL 2021 that RR is not impressed with his performance and they might look to cash his worth going ahead in the next season. But, now it is reported that Royals will retain as their icon player going in IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Sanju Samson is not a regular face in Team India. But, his performance in the domestic circuit is well up to the mark and he was recently on fire in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He smashed 227 in just 7 matches at a brilliant strike-rate 142. He is consistently performing well in the limited-over cricket and this is looked down on as the foremost reason why Rajasthan Royals is most likely to retain the Indian star.

Earlier, it was rumored that Samson might be used by RR in a trade-off with Chennai Super Kings. But that is not the case anymore. As per the reports of ESPNcricinfo, Rajasthan Royals is set to retain the Indian youngster and he will not undergo the hammer in the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Sanju Samson led Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League 2021. But, it is still not confirmed if he is going to continue as a skipper in the upcoming edition or RR will lookout for an experienced player.

The Kerala-born batsman is one of the most experienced and talented youngsters as far as IPL is concerned. He has also played for Delhi Daredevils earlier in the cash-rich league. The 27-year-old has played 121 IPL games and mustered 2286 runs at a strike rate of 134.20. Also, he has managed 3 tons and 15 fifties with his willow in his long IPL career.

Although, RR is still to confirm about the players retained by them. But, Samson will make it into their retention list due to his submissive batting form and hard-hitting abilities.
